How Much Does Gorilla Trekking Cost in Uganda in 2026-2027,  The good news is that Uganda remains the most affordable place in the world to see mountain gorillas.

The Gorilla Permit is the Biggest Cost

You cannot trek without a permit. In 2026-2027, a gorilla trekking permit in Uganda costs $800 per person for foreign non-residents. This fee is set by Uganda Wildlife Authority and includes park entry, ranger guides, and one hour with a gorilla family.

That permit costs $1500 per person and is only available in Rushaga sector of Bwindi.

How Much is a Full Gorilla Safari? 

Most travelers don’t pay for just the permit. You pay for transport, accommodation, and meals as part of a tour package. The total cost depends on your travel style.

 

Budget price

A budget safari for 3 days from Kampala starts from around $1500 per person. This includes shared transport, basic lodges, and the $800 permit. It is ideal for backpackers and small groups.

Mid-Range price

Mid-range is the most popular choice. For 3 days, expect to pay between $2000 and $2800 per person. You get a private 4×4 car, comfortable lodges near Bwindi with hot showers, and full board meals.

Luxury price

Luxury safaris range from $3000 to $5000 per person for 3 days. This includes premium lodges like Buhoma Lodge or Clouds Mountain, private guiding, and sometimes a flight from Entebbe to save time.  Other Costs People Forget

A porter to help you in the forest costs $20 and is highly recommended. Tips for guides and rangers are around $20 to $30 per trek.
