4. How Abseiling Works – Step by Step
First you meet guides at Sipi Falls trading center. They give safety briefing and wear you harness, helmet, and gloves.
Then you walk 15 minutes to top of main 100m waterfall. At top, guides double-check ropes anchored on strong rocks.
Guide shows you how to control speed by holding rope. You lean back and start descending slowly. First 10 meters is scary, then you enjoy view!
You descend 100 meters down cliff face with waterfall on your side. Takes 10 to 20 minutes depending on your speed. Guides at top and bottom control safety rope.
At bottom you land safe, guides remove gear, and you get photos! Total time from briefing to finish is about 1 hour.
